Huawei’s SuperPoD AI, Wi-Fi 7, and Global Network Push

Huawei’s latest showcase revealed a sweeping vision for AI, connectivity, and digital infrastructure. Huawei’s SuperPod, a breakthrough system that links thousands of chips through a new interconnect fabric. This approach pushes computing performance toward supercomputer levels, positioning Huawei as a serious contender in large-scale AI.

Beyond AI, Huawei introduced Wi-Fi 7 access points for complete campus coverage, addressing the connectivity needs of education and enterprise. Globally, Huawei’s fiber deployments at a global scale, including submarine cables across Indonesia’s 18,000 islands, showcased its ability to extend digital access under the toughest conditions. Together, these innovations illustrate ambition to lead the future of AI, power, and connectivity worldwide.

Steve Saunders:

This is the Huawei Connect 2025 trade Show in Shanghai, and I'm here to find out what's behind Huawei's explosive global success in sectors like AI, digital industrialization, and 5G.

There we go. Let's follow that. Oh, look over here.

The big story here this week, Eric Xu's SuperPoD AI announcement. Huawei is effectively saying, we're going to glue together huge numbers of our chips, build a completely new interconnect fabric that keeps them coherent, and then just brute force our way into the same performance envelope.

I also got an update on electrical utility digitalization, which is one of Huawei's fastest growing industry 4.0 success stories.

Pablo Betancur:

Solar inverter, battery system, and electric vehicle chargers.

Steve Saunders:

This is actually the classic architecture of next generation industrialization.

Educational campuses here in China and overseas are another big market for Huawei.

Sword Cheng:

We have the industry's most complete Wi-Fi 7 APs, which can cover all campus scenarios.

Steve Saunders:

They call Rwanda the land of a thousand hills. They call Finland the land of a thousand Lakes. But what about Indonesia? Well, that's the land of 18,000 islands. How on earth do you deploy a network in that environment? I met the CTO of Fiberstar and asked him.

Marcelus Ardiwinata:

So we are laying fiber to another island, also using the submarine cable.

Steve Saunders:

Which is your favorite episode of Kung Fu Panda?

Steve Saunders:

Thanks for joining me at Huawei Connect 2025. I'll see you next year.
